First drawing of the new year. I started my year being sick for the past 5 days, lucky me. I've used the main part of the past week in bed but drew on her once in a while and finally completed her this morning.
I wanted to create something with the earth colours, I very much enjoyed working in these colours last year and I think I will be doing it more this year. I actually tried to mix as many different brownish tones for the trees to experiment a bit. This year I want to focus more on backgrounds in general. My current focus is trees, meaning you'll probably be seeing lots of these in the upcoming drawings. I wished for the girl to be a bit thoughtful in her expression. Not exactly sadness but the feeling of summer fading. The feeling of the last colourful leaves falling, before the long winter comes. We currently have winter here and it's been snowing for the past days. Made with Caran D'Ache colour pencils and Faber Castell colour pencils. I used the lovely Jessica as model for my girl, mainly for the pose this time, though I changed her arms position. Reference: [link] Autumn Princess Copyright © Zindy S. D. it's great that you want to focus more on backgrounds now, I've always hated doing them

I love your work. Your ability to use the texture of the paper and to incorporate it into the art is inspiring. Your work on light on fabric is wonderous.
Have fun working on your backrounds. Personally, I like the darker trees (on the left and in the mid-ground) better.
Thanks for sharing
