Last year around this time I started a large mermaid drawing, using a Danish friend of mine who were kind enough to do a shoot for me. Unfortunately I ripped the paper and never got to finish the drawing ): I decided to start over with a different model and pose, hopefully it can inspire me to start over my original mermaid drawing during the summer. You never know (:

I'm modeling my mermaid after Lena, whom I have used several time, for my fairies especially. She has a wonderful stock worth checking out ♥

This is the drawing so far. About 3-4 hours into the piece by now.
Still debating whether she should have dark brown of fierce red hair. Any suggestions?

I think this is going to be another challenge with her tail and the undersea scape. Hopefully one I will manage. I'm very motivated at this point.

when you say you cant decide a color pick two favorites. a tail isnt all one color. (well in most old fabels my grandmother use to tell me) a lot of them were green blue or blue purple

Red heads are beautiful but to common! Areil (sp) plays a big part in that one ^-^ why not have her hair be made of sea weed?

I think dark hair is best for her. Besides, it'll match with her eyebrows then. I also aggree that the tail should be a bit longer. Perhaps you could let it curl upwards, then you don't have the lack-of-paper issue.

I think I would go with the dark brown hair - would go really well with your skin tone you have laid down so far.

So far this looks to be a stunning one. About the hair. I don't think it should be red because of her eyes and skintone. I think it might look wrong.

I'd say dark hair/maybe copper with orangy highlight or a color like some blueish tone. But that's just me.

Anyway.. look forward to see this done.
