Hope and Flowers
(Breast Cancer Awareness)

I've been working on my second entry for Jen's Think Pink contest this year: [link]
However, I didn't think I'd make it in time as it was very frustrating for me to finish her face. I kept finding small mistakes, angle, chin, nostrils but after a lot of test scanning and correcting I think I got it. Unfortunately the gray shows a bit too much in the shading in some areas and as always the skin more pink, the original looks more natural. I've uploaded a wip photo at my blog: [link]

The drawing is dedicated to

who's survived breast cancer 2 times. I love the fact she started Think Pink on DA; it's for such a wonderful cause. It inspired me 4 years back to start doing my yearly drawings and sell them as prints, tubes, postcards etc to collect money for the cause. So far it's been a great success and it makes me happy as it's one of the causes I feel strongly about.

The girl in my drawing is based on my best friend. We do a lot of photo shoots and she's probably my favourite model. It's wonderful to have your own model to work with, mine is both beautiful and a great poser.

I basically wanted a serene look with a bit of vulnerability but still looking strong, with her head held high (I love this angle on people but hate drawing it, it's really not easy). The flowers are symbolic but I guess you can look at it and make your own thoughts.
