I haven't done a horse since 2005 and decided it is time to do it again. One of my goals in 2009 is to do more animals and I want to do more than 1 horse. It was quite interesting to draw her. I couldn't help but give her some light soft hair to kind of add a more dreamy touch to it. It's interesting because you can actually get an emotion to show on the animals face. It surprised me a little on this one, to me she has a kind of cute expression.
The horse is based on one of my personal photos of my boyfriend's sister's horse, I took last summer. It was a beautiful sunny day and the horse was a good poser - except one of her ears kept going backwards whenever I was ready to take the photo. Was quite funny.
Made with Caran d'ache graphite pencils HB - 4B. 21x29cm (8x11 inches)
u have a good understanding of shading and texture but te face is a tad too long the nostrils are too small the front face bone protrudes far too much not even a standardbred horse would have a face that bowed out. the jaw goes down too far and is too narrow even at the angle u are drawing the horse at. not trying to be mean but i have work with and train horses just thot my nput would help. otherwise great job lol.
Woow, OMG, my art teacher picked this for my project because I picked horses as my topic, I love it ! Mine wasnt too bad :/ but yours is class ! I had to try and copy it
