With this drawing I worked very much on the expression. It's interesting how changing or adding something very small can have such a big effect on the overall expression. I worked a lot on her lips to make them express what I wanted. To begin with she looked smiling instead of melancholic. She's not supposed to be miserable, just longing for her love, her prince.
I drew the sparkles in her hair to give the drawing a shine and a bit of a fairytale glow(I made them a little more white in photoshop as it was hard to make them all white since I started on a dark background-the dark hair). I wanted the white lines to look more sparkly and ultra thin but it's rather hard to make it look that way and at the same time have it look realistic. Definitely something to work at on the next sparkle-in-hair drawing Girl reference: [link] Made with soft charcoal. 19x29cm (7,8x11 Inches) |
