Will artists lose the rights to their own work?

I read this article and as I read it it made me wonder how serious this is. I can hardly believe something like this could happen, it would really change everything for an artist of any kind if so. Just thinking about how many artists getting ripped already. I can’t count how many times I've personally had my drawings stolen from people claiming it to be theirs. I've seen my work posted in magazines but with other peolple's names on them! Just a month ago I got an email from a girl telling me someone had one of my drawings made as big posters and sold in 1000's of copies at a concert! I am so sick of art stealers. This could make it even worse and much easier for them.
If this goes through it would be a true nightmare for many artists!

Please read the article below:

The article is called Mind your own bussiness: You will loose all the rights to your own work.

Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, Today is a gift, Which is why it's called the present

WARNING: what has been seen cannot be unseen!!
wow, Im kinda speechless after that....
OK that officially sucks big time.... so if I where to create a work in Australia - I should be ok? but I guess someone somewhere would challenge that as well...

Don't just sit there.... draw something!!
I really don't get myself....I mean if the US passed this bill what about international artists's like you....they can't expect you to just lay down and take it...the internet is a big place and just because a piece of art isn't in their system doesn't mean it's a US citizen....So I really don't know.....what will happen to us...

Thanks for sharing Zindy :) Art theft certainly sucks, and seeing your own work in magazines and sold as posters while you make zero profit from it is quite sad indeed :( I recently read an article in popular photography magazine about how art theft is more rampant as technology makes it easier for thieves to steal, and sell stolen art. [link]

However, having said that, this article you're worried about is pretty over dramatic, filled with a lot of worry and very little fact. See comment 8. Tora Vi [ April 16, 2008 ] at the same article.

If that isn't enough, research the laws and get just the facts without media panic and I'm sure you'll all be far less worried and/or stressed about it. :) copyright.gov is a good to read about copyright laws, without any media drama. :)

Yeah this sucks. There will be thieves out there no matter what. It will never be completely stopped unfortunately. But the people who are your true fans will be loyal to you because they want it directly from you, and will support you out of respect. The rest are just the type of people that don't care or respect you enough to deserve your original art. The type you wouldn't even want to sell your work to if you knew they thought that way of you. They know they suck. And they know they bought ripped off art from someone that sucks too. So it actually makes the art they bought worthless. The only way your prints are worth money is if they were bought directly from you anyway. Otherwise they're not Zindy originals, so if you look at it that way, Good for them, They own Bootleg artwork. So they are morons. The only cool people are the ones that bought it directly from you.
Atleast thats how i see it. How dumb would i look if i bought a Zindy poster at a concert and was ignorant enough to hang it on my wall in pride. "Hey, hey, Check out my poster!!" It has no value.
I have a signed calender from you. Those idiots would color copy their friends calendar to save a buck and own homemade junk with no value.
Your fans will always be loyal regardless how many fakes are floating around out there for half price. But yeah, it still sucks.
You Rock Zindy!!

So basically, to own something bought right from you makes it priceless, meaning you couldn't put a price on it's value to you. The ones who own rip offs, theirs is priceless also, but meaning it isn't worth a cent.

This article helped me a lot: [link]
I would highly suggest reading it... :)
:lmao: I loved that article "Someone please tell me where this guy is getting the crack he's smoking, because I want to avoid that streetcorner and everything in a six-block radius, kthx."
Classic.

Like I said earlier, the article is typical knee jerk media panic. Thanks for the link :D
